Stefan Stanciu has been active as a composer since 2007 and has been a member of the Society of Finnish Composers since 2025. His compositional style blends elements of neoromanticism, neoclassicism and twentieth-century national modernism.
In addition to writing for pan flute, he has composed for mixed choir, string quartet, wind quintet, solo instruments, symphony orchestra and wind orchestra. His first large-scale work was a pan flute concerto for symphony orchestra, completed shortly before the publication of his method book in 2017. His catalogue also includes sacred, film and educational music.
In November 2023, with support from the Society of Finnish Composers, he organised a composition concert in collaboration with Olari Parish, where the Fantasia Quintet premiered "Fantasia Portrait", a series for wind quintet.
